Nahash, shakti, kundalini, snake — bearer of transformative potential, once fear and control are shed. Snakes mirror one of our hardest experiences as humans: transformation. In my dreams, snakes signal opportunities for transformation in my career, relationships, and traumas. When one slithers by in the earthly realm, I’m face to face with my fear — most of it irrational. We have forty-eight different species of snakes in Louisiana, and only seven of them are venomous.
Snakes symbolize the transformation process we must go through repeatedly in this existence, the many that follow, and the many that came before. masters of transformation, snakes must shed or die multiple times a year. No matter the discomfort of the process, that new skin underneath is always worth it to them. When we move past the fear inherent to the human mind, we can reach the potential our soul came here to slither into, again and again.
