dreams
As she falls asleep, so does her ego, settling into a soft silence. With all this quiet, surely there's some clarity in the ripples of her dreams... Something she’d press snooze for a million times.
Dreams are the purest source of information from the ether, untainted by any opinions or doubts. The dreamworld operates on the content of your mind and the experiences of your soul with the loudness of the ego at rest, yet never gone. We always need the protection of the ego otherwise we wouldn't be in a true human experience.
The logical mind, or the DMN (default mode network), goes to sleep, and inhibitions are set free, calling in a deeper connection to spirit, or that sparkly tie to the divine.
Right before our brain enters REM (Rapid Eye Movement), the phase of sleep when our dreams become the most vivid, it moves into Theta. Theta is, in fact, a scientifically measurable altered state of consciousness where creativity, emotional processing, insight, and visions can come through.
We become a liminal space between the waking world and the spirit world.
Those who listen are given more to hear.
Those who write are given more words.
Those who create are given more tools.
Those who care are given more to love.
Those who dream are given more to bring to life.
Some claim dream recall is a gift, but it a practice that everyone can attune to. In fact, no one else can interpret your dreams as well as you can. With practice, you can even create a personal dictionary of symbolism and knowledge that will expand your understanding and interpretation skills.
Ask these questions to help awaken your dream practice:
What does (animal/object/person) in the dream symbolize in my life?
How did I feel in the dream and what feelings remain when I wake up?
What themes or interactions stood out the most in the dream and why?
Ready to catch some Z's?
THE PRAYER
My dreams are a safe space to rest my ego and connect with my soul and the ether.
REMEMBER YOUR CONNECTION
꩜ Before bed, think about a challenge you’re facing and ask for guidance.
꩜ No matter how strange or normal a dream is, write it down to get your mind in the habit of remembering.
꩜ “Walking in the woods, lying on the grass, taking a bath in the sea, are from the outside. Entering the unconscious, entering yourself through dreams, is touching nature from the inside and this is the same thing.” - Carl G. Jung
